Accessibility

Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity

Our diversity is our strength. We are of many cultures, ages and from all paths of life. We live in rural communities, suburbs and cities, in Canada, Québec, and Indigenous nations across this land. A wealthy few try to pit us against each other because they know that when we come together, we have the power to win. We build a united force by embracing and bridging across our differences.

We see all people as unique and essential to our movement. We know that we are most powerful not in spite of our physical and mental differences, but because of them. Everyone comes to the movement with different needs that impact how they are able to participate. We ask people what they need, and we build our spaces to meet their diverse needs as best we can. We know that accessible spaces will enable people to bring their full selves, skills, and strengths to the movement. At the same time, we also acknowledge that improving access is always a work in progress and that we must start from where we are. Even with the best of intentions, sometimes we won’t be able to meet everyone’s access needs. We give people the information they need and are upfront about the barriers we know of.

We engage in an ongoing process to notice, understand, and dismantle ableism in all that we do. We know that this process will be imperfect and that we will make mistakes, but we confront our mistakes as opportunities to grow and deepen our commitment to disability justice together.
